The Hong Kong Arts Festival will mark its 40th anniversary with a busy programme of events and performances from January 28th to March 8th 2012.
HONG KONG, January 07, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Hong Kong Arts Festival 2012 will be kicking off on January 28th and will see performance artists from across the world congregating in the Chinese city.
Running for 45 days until March 8th, the 2012 edition marks the 40th anniversary of the event and will present 166 performances from 38 ensembles and solo artists from abroad, as well as 16 local Hong Kong acts.
The programme will run the gamut from orchestra, ballet and opera to modern dance and drama, with shows to cater both to traditionalists and fans of contemporary styles.
Highlights include performances of Mozart's comic opera Cosi Fan Tutte, a concert by New Orleans jazz star Dr John, a dance show chronicling the evolution of manga artists Osamu Tezuka and a new adaptation of The Magic Flute.
Meanwhile, the World of Wearable Art will also be making its international debut during the festival as a special event, having proven a success in its native New Zealand.
The Hong Kong Arts Festival 2012 looks set to be a major draw for tourists, with more than 10,000 booking forms having been received by the close of advance sales.
