Miho I. Ponnath Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Higher Education
Ms. Ponnath was named a Professional of the Year in Higher Education in February 2011
BATESVILLE, AR, November 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Miho I. Ponnath, Japanese Instructor for the University of Memphis, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.
Ms. Ponnath began her career in education after she worked in Japan as a teacher of English as a second language. She has since spent 18 years in the field, gaining expertise in Japanese language and culture, and English as a second language. Currently a Japanese Instructor for the Language Department of the University of Memphis, she instructs beginner and advanced Japanese language courses to college students. When educating her students on Japanese culture and dance, she strives to make learning entertaining by using proactive techniques, activities and games. Her future goal is to assume responsibility for the entire Japanese language department at the University of Memphis.
In 1992, Ms. Ponnath earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Hiroshima Jogakuin University in Japan. She continued her education at the University of Memphis, graduating in 2008 with a Master of Arts in English, with a concentration in English as a Second Language.
