DirectRooms.com reports that celebrations for the Islamic festival Eid Al Fitr will see popular holiday destinations like Al Aqabar becoming overrun with people as they head to the beaches to celebrate the holiday.

AL AQABA, JORDAN, July 07, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Eid Al Fitr is one of Islam's two major festivals and is held annually to mark the end of Ramadan where devotees observe a month of fasting and refrain from eating from sunrise to sunset.

The festival represents a breaking of the fast and typically on the morning of the day people eats the date fruit for breakfast and then a main feast follows later in the day.

The actual start of the festival all depends on the first sighting of the moon but is expected to take place around 30th August, give or take a day. In Al Aqabar it will be common to see a large service being held in the morning which takes place out in the open and many hundreds of Muslims will be in attendance.

Afterwards families meet and the feast starts with popular dishes of lamb and spices being served and it's also a time when food is distributed to the poor.

The festival lasts for three days and is a holiday for schools and this causes Al Aqabar hotels to be much busier due to their location by the beaches.
