August 1st will see the new season kick off, showcasing traditional folk music and dance.
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, June 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new season of weekly traditional music and dance shows entitled Saturday Premium Performance is due to begin on August 1st 2011.
Formerly known as Saturday Regular Performance, the series will offer travellers the chance to experience a diverse range of arts typical to the country.
As well as enjoying the shows, attendees can head to the Photo Zone after the spectacle has finished to take pictures of the musicians, actors or dancers, who will often be dressed in traditional outfits.
The programme goes in four-week cycles, with the first and third Saturday including a wide overview of music and dance, while the second week is entitled Listen Long: Listen Deep and features more niche arts.
Every fourth Saturday is dedicated to the cultural heritage of Korea and sees individual areas or themes explored.
The shows take place at 16:00 local time at the Woomyeondang of the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts (NCKTPA). Admission costs 10,000 won (GBP5.75) and it lasts around 80 minutes.
With its roots stretching back to the seventh century, the NCKTPA is a revered national institution.
