A Summer of Fun at Maldon's Promenade Park
Maldon's Promenade Park is a historical treasure located right in the heart of Maldon Town and is very popular amongst residents, visitors and holiday makers, making it the ideal place to spend those sunny summer days!

The Promenade Park is very popular amongst residents, visitors and holiday makers, and is the ideal place to spend those sunny summer days!

Whether you are looking for a relaxing day out in the sunshine, a fun filled family day out during the school holidays, or wish to participate in or watch one of the spectacular events held at the prom, you will be sure to find something to suit this summer.

Eating out at the Promenade Park

There are many food outlets located in the Promenade Park that serve a range of hot and cold food, snacks, ice-creams and beverages to keep you cool this summer.

The Oyster & Seafood Bar situated within the Prom offers some of the finest local seafood in the area, and is open weekends and bank holidays between 11am and 6pm.

And why not take a picnic, m.deli offer a range of picnic hampers that are perfect for those lazy summer afternoons in the sunshine. Their summer picnic menu starts from GBP7.50 per person and offers a range of hampers from continental lunches to romantic picnics.

Things to do

The Museum in the Park is situated by the main gates of the Promenade and is located in the Edwardian building, formally known as the Park Keeper's Lodge. The museum displays a range of artefacts that demonstrate the social, industrial and domestic history of Maldon. There are a range of exhibits that are unchangeable, as well as topical displays with this year featuring 'The History of Maldon Carnival' and 'On Yer Bike'.

Why not take a river cruise aboard the Viking Saga. Trips leave from the Hythe Quay, usually 40 minutes long, cruising past neighbouring towns and ports towards Osea Island. Try walking on water with the Promenade Park's new Bubble of Fun feature. The Bubble of Fun transparent water sphere's will be open weekends and bank holidays from 10am till dusk, weather permitting, and are suitable for children over 3 years and adults weighing no more than 16 stone. Admission is GBP4 per session, lasting approximately 5 minutes.

What's on at the Amphitheatre?

The annual Shakespeare in the Park will take place between Thursday 23rd and Saturday 25th June with a production of Richard III. Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre and cost GBP7.50 adults and GBP5 concessions.

DOT Productions will present Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest' on Saturday 9th July at 7.30pm. Tickets for this "trivial comedy for serious people" cost GBP10 and can be purchased through the DOT Productions website.

And for the Children

Island Inflatables will be at the Promenade Park on various dates this summer, with a range of bouncy castles, slides and more. Wristbands can be purchased, for unlimited use and cost GBP5 (3-13yrs) and GBP3 (under 3yrs). Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Junior Funfair will be open between 11am and 6pm during weekends and Essex school holidays. The funfair is suitable for children under 12 years and features bungee trampolines, paddle boats, mini-dodgems, a funhouse, sideshows and more. Admission to rides is via tokens, which are GBP1.25 each or 10 for GBP10.

The Promenade Splash Park is extremely popular and will be open 11am to 5pm daily on weekends, bank holidays and Essex school holidays, weather permitting. Admission is GBP2 per child for two sessions.
